In Spanish we have three ways of expressing the future: by using the present tense, by using the verb "ir", and by using the future tense, which we use to refer to future actions in a time separate from the moment of speaking. Expect to hear all three forms in daily conversation.

The future tense is also used to express obligation:
- Mañana irás a ver a tu padre. (Tomorrow you will go to see your father.)
- Esta noche estudiarás español. (Tonight you will study Spanish.)
We also use the future to express a supposition or probability (similar to "I wonder", or "could" in English.)
- ¿Cómo estará María? (I wonder how María is.)
- Esa chica, ¿será Genoveva? (That girl, could she be Genoveva?)
Finally, we use the future tense to express surprise or anger:
- Dejé las llaves en casa. ¡Seré tonto! (I left the keys at home. I must be stupid!)
- ¿Te atreverás a negar esto? (Would you dare to deny this?)
Future tense of irregular verbs
Most irregular verbs have the same
endings as regular verbs:

There are not that many irregular verbs in the future tense, and they following one of three patterns:
-Verbs like "poner" (to put, to place) drop the "e" or "i" of the infinitive and add the consonant "d":
